Queensland households and eligible small businesses can claim $150 off electricity bills under the Australian Government’s Energy Bill Relief Fund extension. This relief package is available in two $75 quarterly instalments from 1 July 2025 to the end of 2025. This electricity bill relief is on top of the existing $3.5 billion energy bill relief rolled out by the Australian Government in the 2024–25 financial year.
Government Energy Bill Relief - Queensland
It’s no secret that vulnerable households struggle to manage energy bills during tough financial times. 2025 Energy Bill Relief Fund Extension
Accessing the Energy Bill Relief Fund
Eligible Queensland residential customers and business network customers generally receive the National Energy Bill Relief payments automatically from their electricity retailer into their electricity account. This is in addition to the Cost of Living Rebate offered by the Queensland Government. If you are eligible and have not received the bill relief payments, contact your electricity provider directly.

Household bill relief payments
The energy bill relief QLD rebate can be accessed by households in Queensland, including concession card holders, that satisfy eligibility requirements as follows:
- Hold an active electricity account with an energy retailer for their place of residence.
- Use their electricity account for domestic purposes only.
The energy bill relief extension rebates will be applied from the below dates according to individual billing cycles.
- 1 July 2025
- 1 October 2025
Payments for households in embedded networks
If your household is in an embedded network such as a caravan park, body corporate apartment building, or retirement village, and you are eligible, you will be automatically assessed for and receive the rebate. In some cases, people in embedded networks may need to apply for the Bill Relief payment.

Small business bill relief payments
To be eligible for rebates, small businesses must meet the QLD Government definition of an electricity small business customer as determined by their annual electricity consumption threshold. Customers whose annual electricity consumption is above the threshold will not be eligible for the rebate. Most eligible small businesses will receive their energy rebate automatically from their electricity provider. To qualify for the energy bill relief small business rebate, you must have:
- an active ABN listed on the Australian Business Register.
- a separately metered business tariff.
Annual electricity consumption below the 100 MWh per year threshold.
Payments for small businesses in embedded networks
Small businesses in embedded networks such as shopping centres that meet the QLD definition of an electricity small customer may be eligible for a rebate. Some small business embedded network operators will be able to receive their Bill Relief payment directly into their energy account from their electricity retailer.
